Loom & Automated Loom – A Crafting Expansion for Hytale
by GameHoppers (first public mod)
Overview
This mod introduces two new workstations that let you turn a full suite of yarns into cloth scraps and bolts. It also add the ability to craft white cloth blocks from any bolts not just wool!
Both stations share identical recipes; the only difference is the automation.
What the Mod Adds
- White Cloth Blocks crafted from any cloth bolt.
- Crafting recipes for every cloth bolt and cloth scrap in the game.
- Yarn items for each cloth tier, built on the existing Cindersinue asset:
| Tier (ascending quality/rarity) | Yarn Item |
|---|
| Wool | - |
| Linen | Fibre Yarn |
| Cotton | Cotton Yarn |
| Silk | Silk Yarn |
| Shadoweave | Bone Yarn |
| Cindercloth | Cinder Yarn |
| Prismaloom | Blood Yarn |
| Stormsilk | Storm Yarn |
- All new items inherit the original texture assets, so they blend seamlessly with the vanilla art style.
- Item level & rarity have been calibrated to match the corresponding armor, weapon, and tool tiers, ensuring balanced progression.
Development Notes & Known Limitations
- Balanced recipes: I’ve deliberately kept the high‑tier yarns (especially Stormsilk) above Mithril‑locked equipment. This prevents the new crafting chain from becoming overpowered while still rewarding players who invest in rare cloth.
- Armor recipe overhaul: My original plan was to make armor pieces consume cloth bolts instead of scraps, giving a more logical progression. Unfortunately a bug with parent‑item inheritance caused random recipe overwrites for all armor pieces. Rather than ship a broken system, I postponed that feature until the bug is fixed upstream. I’m happy to revisit it once the engine behaves correctly.
Compatibility & Future Updates
- The mod listens to any changes in the base game’s cloth availability, rarity, or level scaling. If the core game shifts, I’ll push updates to keep everything in sync.
- Planned enhancements (post‑release):
- Adjust loot tables so that specific items can drop from relevant mobs (e.g., Silk Yarn from spider larvae).
Feedback & Collaboration
I built this mod as a learning project and a way to give the community more depth in textile crafting. I’m eager to hear what works, what feels clunky, and any ideas for a cleaner or more elegant solution. Feel free to:
- Post bug reports or balance suggestions in the review section.
Your input will directly shape the next iteration.
Thanks for checking this out, DarkKira!
I hope these looms make your textile adventures richer and less grind‑heavy. Keep crafting, keep experimenting, and let’s push Hytale’s crafting system forward together.
Happy looms!
